Around the neck, this necklace achieves its special effect through a clear, downward-enlarging progression in light: The round brilliant cut moissanites are arranged in graduating sizes from top to bottom – 4mm, 5mm, and 6.5mm – with the bottom stone forming the central focus and catching the light most strongly. This creates a flowing sparkle that visibly changes with every movement and deliberately draws the eye downwards.

The graduating arrangement ensures an elegant, elongating effect and makes this necklace a clear, visible detail around the neck. At the same time, the design remains balanced and comfortable to wear, making it versatile to combine and memorable in everyday life.

Crafted from 925 sterling silver and finished with 18K white gold, the necklace combines a bright, clear appearance with precise workmanship. Colorless (D), VVS1 clarity, and an excellent brilliant cut ensure uniform brilliance. A small lobster clasp ensures a secure hold in everyday wear; the necklace has a fixed length of 45 cm and is crafted as a delicate box chain.

Moissanite as a Gift

Many people don't even know that there's a gemstone that sparkles more than a diamond.

Note: The visible spots are merely tiny pieces of lint on or behind the moissanite, which never completely disappear even with the most intensive cleaning. At VVS1 clarity, inclusions are virtually invisible to the naked eye.

Moissanite FAQ

What is moissanite?

Moissanite is not a diamond imitation but a unique gemstone in its own right, originally discovered in meteorites in 1893. Since it is virtually non-existent in nature in jewelry quality, it is now produced in laboratories to a high standard. It impresses with more sparkle and fire than diamonds. At the same time, moissanite is almost as hard as diamond and therefore perfectly suited for everyday wear.

Why moissanite jewelry is a popular alternative to diamond jewelry

Moissanite and diamonds are barely distinguishable from one another with the naked eye. However, moissanite is not a diamond imitation, but a distinct gemstone that actually sparkles more intensely than a diamond. With a Mohs hardness of 9.25, moissanite is almost as hard as a diamond, making it particularly scratch-resistant. This allows moissanite to retain its extraordinary, colorful sparkle for many years.

Why does moissanite sparkle more than a diamond?

Moissanite has a higher refractive index and stronger dispersion (fire/rainbow) than diamonds. In addition, moissanite has double refraction – a property that diamonds do not possess. As a result, incoming light is split and transmitted through the stone in a unique way. Combined with the higher dispersion, this creates more intense light reflections, visible flashes of color, and a more vibrant sparkle. While diamonds are known for their classic, steady sparkle, moissanite often displays a more dynamic and colorful play of rainbow light.

Can moissanite become cloudy or change color?

No. Moissanite does not become cloudy on its own and does not lose its brilliance. The stone is not coated and retains its optical properties for years. Deposits such as soap residue or dirt can temporarily diminish its sparkle, but they can be easily removed with a simple cleaning.

Only at extremely high temperatures or through aggressive chemicals can moissanite be damaged or change its color – just like a diamond.

Can moissanite scratch or chip during everyday wear?

With a Mohs hardness of 9.25, moissanite is extremely scratch-resistant and will retain its extraordinary sparkle for years under normal wear. Only a diamond or another moissanite can scratch a moissanite. While moissanite can chip from heavy impact, it is less prone to this than a diamond due to its crystal structure.

Why Moissanite jewelry is perfect for everyday wear?

Moissanite is extremely durable and ideal for daily wear. With a hardness of approximately 9.25 on the Mohs scale, moissanite is second only to diamonds (10), making it one of the hardest gemstones in the world. As a result, it is highly resistant to scratches and retains its brilliance even with regular wear.

Why moissanite jewelry gifts are remembered.

Moissanite is still a relatively unknown gemstone. Many people do not even know that there is a stone that can display a more intense sparkle than a diamond. At the same time, with a hardness of about 9.25 on the Mohs scale, moissanite is almost as durable as a diamond. As a result, gifts featuring moissanite remain preserved for many years and are not only a beautiful reminder of a special moment, but also accompany many new memories with their extraordinary sparkle.

Why can white gold appear slightly yellowish in photos?

White gold contains a natural warm gold tone, as gold itself is yellow. In areas less directly reached by light, the camera may render this warm tone more intensely, even though the piece of jewelry appears white there in reality as well.

Alongside tiny lint, this is another reason why genuine jewelry photos represent a challenge in the industry.

Cleaning moissanite jewelry easily at home

Ideally, rings are simply cleaned while washing your hands. Chains and, above all, earrings, however, require regular, targeted cleaning.

A fine, soft makeup brush is often faster and more thorough than an ultrasonic bath. Briefly soak the jewelry in a bowl of lukewarm water with a little soap. Then hold it firmly with your fingers under water and carefully clean it with the brush. Once everything is clean, rinse the jewelry with clear water and dry it carefully with a clean cloth. Paper towels are best, as they are highly absorbent and cleaner than a cloth that has been used multiple times. It is always best to dry the jewelry instead of just letting the water evaporate. This helps prevent water spots and residue.

A fine, soft makeup brush is important. A hard brush like a toothbrush should not be used.

Try not to move the jewelry around in the bowl, as silver or gold could get scratched against it. Therefore, always hold the jewelry firmly with your hands while under water.

For older jewelry that has been worn for a very long time and has a coating, this coating may wear off over time. In this case, even a soft brush could further wear away the already damaged coating. Therefore, clean such jewelry with extra care.

How do I get the maximum sparkle out of a moissanite or diamond?

Both moissanite and diamonds can have slightly less light entering the stone even just after being cleaned, due to fingerprints and skin oils, as the fingerprints obstruct the light.

Therefore, it can be worthwhile to carefully wipe the gemstone briefly with a clean paper towel immediately after putting it on, without touching it with your fingers. The paper towel absorbs fingerprints and skin oils very well and is always clean. Because to get the maximum sparkle out of diamonds or moissanite, the cloth itself must not leave any oily residue.

For rings, this can be skipped entirely, as they often touch other fingers during daily wear. This trick is best for earrings, as earrings immediately get fingerprints on the gemstones when put on and are generally not touched during the day. For necklaces, it is similar to earrings.

The difference is not huge, and a gemstone does not automatically lose its sparkle with every touch. But for those with a keen eye, the difference will be immediately noticeable: a moissanite or diamond without fingerprints can enhance the WOW effect even further.
