Does soap or shampoo harm moissanite?

Seifenreste auf einem Moissanite Ring können den Stein vorübergehend matt wirken lassen

Soap or shampoo won't harm moissanite – the stone remains permanently clear and brilliant. Find out here why any jewelry can suddenly appear dull and how easily you can restore its sparkle.

Can Moissanite become cloudy or fade?

No, moissanite is one of the most durable gemstones in the world. What is often perceived as cloudiness is surface dirt or a film of grease. Regular cleaning will keep your moissanite jewelry permanently brilliant.

Does soap, dish soap, chlorine, or shampoo harm moissanite?

No, soap, chlorine, or shampoo do not harm moissanite. On the contrary, we even recommend cleaning moissanite jewelry with soap or dish soap. Moissanite rings can easily be washed while you wash your hands.

Why does my moissanite ring suddenly look dull?

A dull look is usually caused by residues of hand cream, limescale, shampoo, or skin oils that accumulate on your moissanite ring in everyday life. Moissanite itself does not become cloudy – it is the dirt that dulls the play of light and makes the stone appear less shiny.

How do I properly polish my moissanite jewelry?

Toilet paper, kitchen paper, or tissues are best, as they are always clean, do not spread dirt, and reliably absorb everything. Many cloths or microfiber cloths, on the other hand, can smudge dirt. If you want to clean rather than polish, you can also carefully clean the jewelry with a small, clean brush and some water.

Can I clean my moissanite jewelry with an ultrasonic cleaner?

Yes, moissanite is suitable for ultrasonic cleaning, as long as the stone is securely set and has not become loose. However, this is the harshest cleaning method and even after 10 minutes, it's not perfectly clean. A makeup brush underwater with soap or dish soap will clean an earring in 20 seconds, truly removing the dirt by wiping it away directly.

Why does my moissanite ring suddenly appear cloudy, even though it should sparkle so brightly?

You bought your moissanite ring because moissanite jewelry is known for its brilliant sparkle, incredible clarity, and high quality. But suddenly your moissanite ring looks dull and lackluster? Don't panic! The problem isn't with the moissanite itself, but with everyday residues that accumulate on your moissanite ring.

Moissanite rings are extremely robust, but dirt, soap residue, hand cream, limescale, and grease form a layer on your moissanite jewelry that blocks the light and significantly dampens the sparkle of your moissanite ring. This effect occurs with all moissanite jewelry – just as it does with diamonds, sapphires, or rubies.

The moissanite stone itself remains consistently clear, colorfast, and brilliant – that's the strength of moissanite! With a Mohs hardness of 9.25, moissanite is almost as hard as diamond and extremely scratch-resistant.

Cleaning moissanite is easy: a gentle cleaning removes the layer of dirt and immediately restores the original brilliance of your moissanite ring. Whether moissanite rings, earrings, or necklaces – with the right care, your moissanite jewelry will maintain its maximum sparkle and unique brilliance for many years.

Trust in the durability and beauty of moissanite jewelry and never let your moissanite ring lose its radiance due to dirt and deposits!

Easily clean moissanite jewelry at home

Since we only take real photos and videos of our jewelry, it is especially important for us to have the jewelry clean so that no lint or dust, which doesn't belong there, is visible in the photos and videos. That's why we have tried everything imaginable.

We must state directly upfront: Ultrasound is not good – neither for cleaning nor for the jewelry itself. Even with glasses, ultrasound is not optimal, as the frame can be loosened. The same can happen with all types of jewelry. Furthermore, in our experience, ultrasound is not nearly as effective for cleaning as a simple makeup brush underwater. Even if a heavily soiled piece of jewelry lies in the ultrasonic cleaner for 10 minutes, it will not be nearly as clean as after just 1 minute of careful brushing under water with a little soap or dish soap. With a fine brush, water, and soap, it really works best.

Simply take a bowl of water, add a little dish soap, and clean the jewelry with a fine brush. A simple brush with soft bristles, such as a makeup brush, is very suitable for this. Moissanite itself is very scratch-resistant, but 18k white gold is soft, so large, solid plastic should not be used. The makeup brush is the winner here as it is very likely already at your home.

This works very well for every one of our moissanite jewelry pieces.

If you want to polish the jewelry daily, you can simply wipe it with a paper towel. This ensures that the towel itself does not smear the jewelry, as it is always clean and fresh. We deliberately do not include a jewelry cleaning cloth, as these become a jewelry-contaminating cloth after some time. Fresh kitchen paper is always clean, and even picks up very fine particles and gets into corners better than a polishing cloth.

Wiping moissanite jewelry with a paper towel for 10 seconds once a day can bring out a lot of extra shine – especially for moissanite earrings and necklaces, as they are generally not touched throughout the day like rings.

Wearing Moissanite Jewelry in Everyday Life - Without Problems, Without Concerns

Moissanite is made for everyday life – whether washing hands, showering, or in the normal hustle and bustle. You don't have to take off your moissanite jewelry when showering, cooking, or cleaning. On the contrary: especially when you are on the go, the stone shows what it can do. Shampoo, shower gel, cleaning agents, or hair masks leave no traces – because moissanite is neither coated nor porous and remains crystal clear.

Here you will find our Moissanite Rings, which even survive washing dishes in style.

Moissanite jewelry is suitable for everyday wear and scratch-resistant. With a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale, moissanite is almost as hard as a diamond – and thus significantly more robust than zirconia or many other gemstones. Scratches from glass, metal, or ceramics? Not an issue. Even with daily use, your moissanite ring remains like new.

We tried to saw one of our moissanite rings in half – no chance. Then we exposed it to flame – nothing. No crack, no loss of shine.
This stone endures what others only dream of.

If anything gets scratched while washing dishes, it's more likely your dishes – not the stone. Moissanite is made for real wearers: for people who don't want to be careful, but to live. The stone can handle anything – and still looks like you just came from the jeweler.

You don't have to spare your moissanite. Wear it. Every day. Without compromise.

Why Moissanite Jewelry is Perfect for Everyday Wear – Scratch-Resistant, Durable, Always Brilliant

Moissanite jewelry for everyday wear is more than just beautiful – it's made for movement, for real days, for everything in between. Whether a moissanite ring, moissanite earrings, or a moissanite necklace: these pieces not only look like they're from a shop window, they stay that way – even if you wear them daily.

Jogging with moissanite brilliant stud earrings? No problem. Cooking, showering, washing hair – a robust moissanite ring can handle anything without losing its brilliance. Shampoo, dish soap, or soap cannot harm this scratch-resistant stone. You don't need a delicate gemstone that needs to be pampered – you need easy-care jewelry that can keep up.

Moissanite is almost as hard as a diamond. This means: no scratches, no clouding, no compromises in appearance – even after years. At the same time, moissanite is more sustainable than classic gemstones, as it is grown in a laboratory in an environmentally friendly way – without problematic mining.

For anyone looking for durable, sparkling, and everyday jewelry that neither breaks nor fades, moissanite jewelry for daily use is the best choice. Brilliance, stability, and sustainability – without compromise.

Moissanite or Diamond? The Clever Choice for Sustainable, Sparkling Jewelry

Diamonds have always stood for luxury and eternity. No other gemstone is as hard – with a Mohs hardness of 10, they are considered the ultimate for engagement rings. But their beautiful appearance comes at a price: mining is expensive, rare, and often associated with significant social and ecological problems.

A modern alternative shows that there is another way – for example, with our Solitaire Moissanite Ring in Silver (1ct).

Moissanite is the modern, ethical alternative to diamond – without optical compromises. With a hardness of 9.25, it is almost as scratch-resistant as diamond and ideally suited for everyday wear. Optically, it impresses with intense fire and brilliant sparkle that even surpasses many diamonds. The reason for this is its high refractive index of 2.65 (compared to diamond's approx. 2.42) – as well as its double refraction, which breaks the light inside particularly vividly. The result: more brilliance, more life, more wow.

Moissanite Jewelry vs. Diamond Jewelry - the Advantages at a Glance:

Hardness: Moissanite 9.25 vs. Diamond 10 – hardly any difference in everyday life
Brilliance: Moissanite shows more fire and sparkle than diamonds
Refractive Index: Moissanite 2.65 with double refraction – more intense than diamond
Sustainability: Moissanite is laboratory-grown – no mining, no exploitation
Price-Performance: Significantly cheaper than diamond with an almost identical look
Everyday Suitability: Scratch-resistant, durable, insensitive to water, soap, or care products

For anyone looking for sparkling, durable, and ethically sound jewelry, moissanite is the smart alternative to the classic diamond. Whether for engagement rings, earrings, or necklaces – moissanite jewelry offers the look of a diamond, but with even more radiance – without its downsides.

Care Instructions for Moissanite Jewelry Made of 925 Silver with 18k White Gold Plating

Our moissanite jewelry made of 925 Sterling silver is usually plated with an elegant 18k white gold plating. This high-quality combination not only provides a luxurious look but also protects the silver. To ensure your gold-plated moissanite rings, necklaces, and earrings retain their shine for a long time, proper care is super easy.

How to properly care for gold-plated moissanite jewelry:

  • Aggressive cleaning agents or chemicals can attack the white gold layer of your gold-plated 925 silver jewelry. Therefore, do not wear your jewelry when cleaning with harsh agents – although you should always wear protective gloves when handling such substances, not just for the jewelry, but also for your skin.
  • A soft polishing cloth easily removes fingerprints and light dirt. For more shine, you can use lukewarm water with a little mild dish soap. Or a fine brush to get into hard-to-reach places.
  • Store properly dry: After wet cleaning, always rinse with clear water and pat off excess water. It is best to always store the jewelry in a jewelry box.

The gold-plated sterling silver, just like the moissanite, does not require extensive care. The metal should simply not come into contact with aggressive chemicals, which you should generally avoid contact with anyway. What harms the jewelry is usually also harmful to the skin, so always wear gloves.

Moissanite Jewelry – Durable, Everyday-Wearable, and Brilliant

Moissanite jewelry stands for exceptional brilliance, extreme durability, and genuine sustainability. With an impressive hardness, moissanite is virtually scratch-proof and effortlessly withstands the challenges of everyday life – whether washing hands, showering, cooking, or exercising. Soap, shampoo, or cleaning agents? No problem for this resilient stone.

In direct comparison with diamonds, moissanite jewelry convinces with a significantly better price – without compromising on brilliance or appearance. At the same time, moissanite is the more environmentally friendly choice, as the stone is laboratory-grown and avoids the ecological and ethical problems of traditional gemstone mining.

Moissanite also has clear advantages over zirconia: while zirconia loses its shine over time and scratches more easily, moissanite remains brilliant for years – even with daily wear. So, for anyone looking for durable, sustainable, and high-quality jewelry with genuine sparkle, moissanite rings, moissanite necklaces, or moissanite earrings are the perfect choice.
