It impresses with its stronger sparkle and fire than diamonds. At the same time, moissanite is almost as hard as diamond, making it perfectly suitable for everyday wear.
Why does moissanite sparkle more than a diamond?
Moissanite has a higher refractive index and greater dispersion (fire/rainbow) than diamonds. In addition, moissanite has double refraction – a property that diamonds do not possess. This causes incoming light to be split and transmitted through the stone in a special way. In combination with the higher dispersion, this creates more intense light reflections, visible flashes of color, and a more vibrant sparkle. While diamonds are known for their classic, calm sparkle, moissanite often displays a more dynamic and colorful rainbow light show.
